second day of Commercial Vehicle Outlook Conference

DALLAS (August 2011) – “Thriving in a Changing Environment,” a panel discussion featuring executives from some of the nation’s premier carriers, will provide Commercial Vehicle Outlook Conference attendees with insights on how fleets are dealing with many of today’s biggest issues.

The panel is scheduled for 9 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, on day two of the second annual conference. Featured panelists are Robert Low, president and founder of Prime, Inc., Don Orr, president and CEO of Central Freight, and Russell Stubbs, president and CEO of FFE Transportation Services. Jeff Crissey, editor of Commercial Carrier Journal, will moderate. Panelists will discuss how their companies are dealing with challenges such as the driver shortage, rising equipment costs, volatile fuel prices and ongoing regulatory controls.

Kicking off Thursday’s session will be remarks by industry veteran James Hebe, Navistar executive vice president, sales, who will share his insights on the challenges facing OEMs, suppliers, dealers and fleets. Rounding out the second day of the conference will be an update on the regulatory and legislative issues affecting OEMs, suppliers and carriers provided by Rob Abbott, vice president, safety policy, American Trucking Associations and Ann Wilson, senior vice president, government affairs, Motor Equipment Manufacturers Association.

Other conference highlights include:
• Keynote presentation by Karl Rove, former deputy chief of staff and senior advisor to President George W. Bush, who will give his insider’s view on Washington politics and the 2012 presidential election.
• The Future Truck, a presentation and panel discussion featuring Sandeep Kar, global director, commercial vehicle research, Frost & Sullivan, Max Fuller, co-chairman and CEO, U.S. Xpress and Kyle Treadway, president of Kenworth Sales Co. and chairman of the American Truck Dealers.
• Trucking’s Economic Outlook, featuring Noel Perry, managing director with FTR Consulting Group and Peter Nesvold, transportation and logistics analyst with Jefferies & Co.

Presented by the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association and Randall-Reilly Business Media and Information, which produces Commercial Carrier Journal and Successful Dealer, the conference will be held Aug. 24-25, the day prior to and the opening day of the Great American Trucking Show. Registration begins at 11 a.m., Wednesday, followed by a networking lunch. A networking reception will be held immediately following the program on Wednesday. The conference ends at noon on Thursday when the Great American Trucking Show opens.
