Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced it has finally received clearance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to sell its pickup trucks in the country, ending months of delays in getting the Indian-built trucks to U.S. shores.
The trucks, which were supposed to go on sale here in August, 2009, have had their U.S. debut delayed numerous times while the manufacturer worked to bring the trucks into compliance with U.S. regulations, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Volvo AB, a Sweden-based automaker, has announced that its employees have ended their two-week long strike at Volvo Bus factory in Hoskote near Bangalore.
The strike has been ended after the management and workers union worked up a mutual agreement on wage revision.
Wabco has announced that it will supply advanced air disc braking technology to VALX, a new European supplier of heavy duty trailer axles, through Wabco's joint venture in China with Fuwa, the world's largest manufacturer of commercial trailer axles. The development is described as marking another milestone in Wabco's global expansion.
Dutch company VALX has recently introduced its new range of trailer axles in 19.5- and 22.5-inch wheel sizes for the European market.
Sdertlje, Sweden - Scania is increasing its production and is therefore making an exception from the current agreement on a four-day week during the first half of 2010 for workshop employees in Sweden. According to the agreement, white collar employees will resume a five-day week in April.
"There is a need to increase production mainly because demand remains very high in Brazil, but some recovery is also occurring in Europe. By efficiently utilizing our global production structure, we are boosting our manufacturing rate in Europe so that we can supply South American production units with components,"says Anders Nielsen, Executive Vice President, Production and Logistics.
Changchun, FAW Jiefang Automotive Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the FAW Group specializing in truck manufacturing based in northeast China's Jilin province, is likely to achieve annual sales of 240,000 units this year, estimated to account for 20 percent of the country's total, said the company.
Total sales of China's truck sector are likely to reach 1.2 million units this year, predicted Meng Fanwen, head of the marketing unit of FAW Jiefang.
