Bosch, Deutz, Eberspaecher Set up Joint Venture for Diesel Exhaust Aftertreatment

Robert Bosch, Deutz and Eberspaecher have signed an agreement to set up a joint venture in the area of diesel exhaust aftertreatment.

The joint venture will be known as Bosch Emission Systems and be headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. The agreement is still subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities.

Oshkosh Corp Surpasses 1,000 Vehicles a Month; Delivers Ahead of Schedule

OSHKOSH, Wis., -- Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) announced today that it has reached a milestone production rate for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) of 1,000 vehicles per month on December 18. The production for December is the sixth consecutive month Oshkosh exceeded delivery requirements. Since being awarded the contract on June 30, 2009, Oshkosh has been steadily ramping up production, and will continue at this rate of 1,000 vehicles per month through May 2010 to deliver the 6,619 vehicles currently under contract.

Carbon Prices Fall In Wake of Copenhagen

Carbon prices plunged yesterday in the aftermath of the Copenhagen conference on climate change, dealing a blow to the credibility of the European Union's carbon-trading scheme.

Prices for carbon permits for December 2010 delivery, the benchmark contract for pricing European permits, dropped nearly 10 per cent in early trading, before recovering to end the day 8.3 per cent lower at €12.41.

Toyota and Hino Restructure Indonesia Truck Production

Tokyo, - Hino held a line-off ceremony today to mark the consolidation of production of their jointly developed Toyota "Dyna" and Hino "Dutro" light-duty trucks at PT. Hino Motors Manufacturing Indonesia(HMMI). The consolidation, which brings the end of production of light-duty trucks at PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), represents optimization of the production structure of the Toyota Group in Indonesia.

Electric Incentives Won't Tempt Fleets

Despite the guarantees of significant financial support for fleets willing to use electric vehicles, it is unlikely that this support will have any real impact on the numbers of electric cars used by fleets.

In the latest of a string of announcements confirming financial incentives to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles – both cars and vans – the chancellor Alistair Darling said he is giving a Benefit-in-Kind holiday to drivers of electric company vehicles. This will give basic tax-paying company vehicle drivers the equivalent of a 500 pay rise because they will no longer pay the 9 percent BiK for their vehicle.

Hyundai in US$400m China Truck Deal

Hyundai Motor plans to form a US$400 million venture with Baotou Bei Ben Heavy-Duty Truck in China next year. The deal is Hyundai's third attempt to penetrate China's commercial vehicle market after a 2004 agreement with Jianghuai Automobile and a US$1.2 billion deal with Guangzhou Automobile Group in 2005 fell apart. The companies have signed an initial agreement to form the 50-50 partnership. The venture will take over Baotou Bei Ben's existing heavy-truck operation with an annual production capacity of 40,000 vehicles.
