Caterpillar Inc. said that it plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China to produce undercarriage components and track assemblies for Cat hydraulic excavators. The new facility will be located adjacent to the Caterpillar Xuzhou Ltd. hydraulic excavator facility, allowing shipment of finished undercarriage components to the Caterpillar machine facility for final assembly.
The Peoria, Ill.-based manufacturer also said it will expand its remanufacturing facility in West Fargo, ND. The increased capacity will help meet what Cat said is strong demand for remanufactured drive train components for large off-highway trucks and other mining equipment, including final drives, transmissions, torque convertors and steering clutches.

São Paulo, 17 - Brazil's largest bus body maker Marcopolo Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Russia's OJSC Kamaz to study the possibility of setting up a joint venture in the Russian market.
The new business, if approved, will produce buses with Kamaz chassis and Marcopolo bus bodies, the companies said in a statement.

Close on the heels of the inauguration of three facilities at its megasite earlier this year, Cummins opened its fourth facility, a parts distribution center (PDC), recently at Phaltan.
In January, Cummins had launched three facilities - the second manufacturing facility of Tata Cummins, an engine rebuild center and a reconditioning facility for remanufacturing engines and components. PDC has been established with an objective to enhance supply chain efficiency in aftermarket parts distribution. The center will serve as a logistics hub. With this, the total investment by Cummins Group at the Megasite has reached approximately US $100 million.

DAF Trucks announced it will supply engines and cabs to the Czech truck maker Tatra for a new range of off-highway trucks to be sold throughout Europe. The new vehicles, which will be available in 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 and 12x12 configurations, will also be sold by DAF dealers, complementing DAF’s range of construction trucks.
DAF will supply PACCAR MX 12.9 L diesel engines and DAF CF cabs with deliveries scheduled to begin this year. The engines are built by DAF in Eindhoven, Netherlands, while the cabs are produced in DAF’s Westerlo, Belgium, factory.

The CV finance industry has been plagued by issues such as the de-listing from priority sector lending, and the reported slowdown in the auto industry. But performance has been decent on account of adherence to sound fundamentals.
The commercial vehicle finance industry has witnessed a spurt in activity in the last few months. While the Reserve Bank of India has de-listed NBFCs from availing of priority sector lending, financiers have benefitted from a rising interest rate graph. And then again, against the backdrop of vehicle as well as fuel prices going up, there are apprehensions about a slowdown, or at least very feeble growth. In these uncertain times, the prospects for the overall CV industry have probably been over analyzed. Pune (Maharashtra): India's commercial vehicle maker Force Motors Ltd is planning to invest Rs 10 billion over the next two years to expand its manufacturing capacity in India. The company also plans to introduce at least two vehicles including the 'SUV Force One', which is likely to be launched later this month, the Business Line reported.
Currently, the firm is looking to establish a new manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh for an all new multi-purpose-vehicles (MPV) scheduled to start functioning by the end of 2012. The Pune-based vehicle maker is also negotiating with the state government of Madhya Pradesh to provide incentives for establishing this plant.
